Recent SEO news over the past few months has been related to low-quality results and spam. Google is aware of this and working on solutions. This article is not to address that, but to highlight something spotted in the wild today.
Google seems to be testing new People Also Ask features. A recent search for auto repair + geo modifier, showed 4 PAAs, for 2 car repair-related questions and 2 questions specifically about my city modifier, in this case, “Winchester VA.”
Ok, so not quite what I was expecting (until recently Google, has given me PAAs relevant to my query), but I digress.
Since my curiosity got the better of me, I clicked on a city PAA, “Who were the early settlers of Winchester Virginia”:
The answer provided to me was from Wikipedia (no surprise there). But look again at the image above. Now there is a new “Search for” link associated with the question I clicked and 2 additional PAAs for Winchester. Solved for now. Sort of.
I tested the feature once again (and, no I did not clear my cache. After all, this was spotted, not tested). This time I clicked on “Should I shop around for car repairs?” Now, I am presented with 3 additional, new PAAs about car repair:
Continual clicking on the links continues to provide additional PAAS:
We will keep clicking around and share what we find.
